The NCCS Division of Medical Oncology is looking for a passionate and enthusiastic individual to join the Supportive Care, Integrated Treatment, And Rehabilitation to Improve Outcomes in Gastrointestinal Cancer (STRONG) team.

 

The Associate Research Coordinator plays a key role in supporting patients enrolled in the STRONG program. The incumbent serves as the first point of contact for patient enrolment, guiding patients through the onboarding process and ensuring they receive essential programme information. The role is responsible for administering questionnaire surveys and conducting functional assessments at designated timepoints, enabling timely monitoring of patients’ functional status and treatment progress. Through care coordination and basic health coaching, the coordinator helps patients navigate their treatment journey and ensures they receive holistic, continuous support from the multidisciplinary team.

 

Key Duties:

 

1.Patient recruitment

  • Work closely with DMO doctors/ APN to recruit eligible patients into STRONG program.
  • Identify and recruit patients who are eligible for STRONG program
  • Explain the STRONG program, including its objectives, assessments, and available support services
  • Provide patients with essential information (STRONG e-booklet) and contact numbers (APN, CIH, NCCS hotlines)

 

2.Patient assessment

  • Administration of validated questionnaires and functional assessments. 
  • Monitor changes in patients’ functional status and coping

 

3.Care coordination and health coaching

Assist with patient’s queries (in person and through text messaging platforms like WhatsApp, SMS, calls and emails), including but not limited to:

  • Clarifications on appointments/ chemotherapy schedules
  • Shifting of appointments
  • Basic health coaching
  • Directing clinical queries to the appropriate healthcare professionals.

 

4.Administrative work and others

  • Input all assessment data into Sunrise Clinical Manager (SCM).
  • Maintain and update the STRONG program database with relevant information such as patient’s demographics, referrals, assessment results, patient’s progress, etc.
  • Make appropriate recommendations based on patient assessment.
  • Collaborate with gastrointestinal cancer team, including doctors, nurses and allied health partners.

 

Key Requirements:

  • Diploma in Life Sciences or a related health‑science field (or equivalent).
  • Prior patient‑facing experience is an advantage but not mandatory.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Able to communicate effectively in English; ability to communicate with diverse linguistic groups (e.g. is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Motivated, patient‑centric, and able to engage various stakeholders (patients, caregivers, healthcare professionals).
  • Able to work independently with initiative.
  • Comfortable with web‑based tools and communication applications (e.g., WhatsApp, FormSG).
