About the Role 

You will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely coding of diagnoses and procedures for retrieval, research, and reimbursement purposes. Working within our healthcare information management system, you will maintain high coding quality standards while meeting Ministry of Health requirements. 

 

Some of the Key Responsibilities Include 

  • Abstract and assign appropriate ICD9 and ICD9 CM codes through comprehensive medical record review 

  • Manage and maintain data integrity in the 3M Coding and Grouping Application System 

  • Liaise with healthcare professionals to clarify documentation and ensure coding accuracy 

  • Submit coded information to Ministry of Health within specified timeframes 

  • Generate monthly coding status reports and perform timely follow-up on uncoded inpatient cases 

  • Participate in internal and external audits and contribute to coding practice improvements 

  • Assist in developing clinical coding handbooks for all specialties 

  • Participate in continuing education and maintain ethical practices 

 

Job Requirements 

  • Degree in Allied Health Science or Medical Science or Nursing preferred with at least 1 to 2 years' related working experience 

  • Certificate in ICD9 CM Coding preferred 

  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities 

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
