About the Role
You will be part of the Division of Radiation Oncology (DRO) – Physics Department providing and supporting Radiotherapy Physics services. A Senior Medical Physicist must have the relevant experience and clinically qualified. If you join us without experience, you will have to undergo a residency program to become clinically qualified. A resident will work under the supervision of clinically qualified Medical Physicists.
Responsibilities
- To perform and assist in maintaining a comprehensive quality assurance on all treatment machines and devices, and patient-specific QA.
- To perform treatment planning and ensuring radiation safety in all aspects of brachytherapy (HDR and LDR included).
- To perform stereotactic radiotherapy or other advanced treatment planning and consultation with radiation oncologists or radiotherapy staff on physics aspects of patient treatment.
- Assist or lead in the physics implementation or development of new radiotherapy machine, technique or technology, including commissioning and acceptance as required.
- To assist in the maintenance and calibration of instrumentation for radiation dosimetry.
- Conduct radiation safety checks and surveys of DRO radiation facility and to assist in attending to any radiation related emergencies and incidences.
- To assist or lead in physics or division research projects.
- To assist in training and education of medical doctors, radiation therapists and medical physics residents, if clinically qualified.
- To undertake any other duties as assigned by the Chief Radiation Physicist or his designate.
Job Requirements
- Masters degree in Physics/Medical Physics (or equivalent) with experience or,
- PhD in Physics (or equivalent)
- Good interpersonal, communication and organisation skills.
