The Department of Cancer Survivorship and Wellness is conducting research projects to improve the health and well-being in cancer survivors. The research fellow will participate in multiple aspects of research studies, including study design, data collection, data management, data analysis and results dissemination.

 

The research fellow will also provide research support services for clinical research, in accordance with the applicable regulatory and protocol requirements. He/she will work closely with the Principal Investigator (PI) and members of the department to ensure smooth and efficient day-to-day logistics support for research studies and assist in study quality control activities such as internal monitoring and preparation for auditing/ inspection. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

1.Subject knowledge and research methods

  • Have knowledge in supportive and palliative care, and health services research methods to carry out excellent research
  • Able to formulate research questions
  • Able to work with research coordinator on ethical aspects related to IRB

 

2. Data analysis and interpretation

  • Able to analyze and interpret data (patient outcomes data and biomarker data) in research studies
  • Educate, advise and guide others in data analysis and interpretation
  • Perform and guide others in data analysis and interpretation for research studies

 

3. Information searching and evaluation

  • Conduct advanced searches using a range of information software, resources and techniques

 

4. Research ethics

  • Ensures that ethical principles are adhered to within own research environment
  • Educate and advise peers and less experienced members of staff regarding ethical conduct of research

 

Key Requirements:

  • PhD degree, preferably in a healthcare or biomedical field
  • Prior experience in nursing or allied health or related biomedical discipline is highly desirable
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to interact with participants and clinicians at all levels
  • Motivated, independent and hardworking individual with a keen interest to gain experience in clinical research and build research skills in relevant areas such as implementation science, translational science through biomarker research, and data analytics using routinely collected real-world data.
