Research Officer (DSSOJO)
The Laboratory of Applied Human Genetics at the National Cancer Centre Singapore is a multidisciplinary laboratory with specific focus on peritoneal and sarcoma malignancies. The direction of our laboratory is to solve real-world clinical problems via sound scientific translation. Since the conception of our laboratory seven years ago, we have established three scientific pillars — Therapeutics, Companion Diagnostics, and the CAPTIVATE (Target Generation) pipeline. We are currently working towards a first-in-human therapeutic developed in-house. To support increasing publication, international collaboration, and external engagement activities, we are looking for a dynamic, meticulous, and responsible Research Technologist / Research Officer to work closely with researchers and clinicians in supporting the visual and graphical communication needs of the laboratory. This role focuses on the development of high-quality visual materials for publications, presentations, and virtual engagements, and does not rely on scientific or laboratory expertise.
Responsibilities:
1. Laboratory Research
a) Develop graphical illustrations, figures, schematics, and visual summaries for scientific publications, presentations, and reports.
b) Work closely with researchers and clinicians to translate scientific concepts into clear, accurate, and publication-ready visual materials.
c) Support preparation of visual materials for conferences, international collaborations, funding-related engagements, and virtual meetings.
d) Ensure visual outputs meet journal, conference, and institutional formatting and quality standards.
2. Venture Development Support
a) Support preparation of visually compelling pitch materials, decks, and graphical content for venture development and funding-related engagements.
b) Work with the research and leadership team to translate scientific and strategic content into clear, concise, and investor-oriented visual narratives.
c) Adapt and refine visual materials to suit different stakeholder groups and engagement contexts.
d) Support the adaptation and visual refinement of pitch materials for effective communication with Chinese-speaking venture capital stakeholders.
3. Other Duties
Perform any other ad-hoc job-related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Recognised Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree, discipline flexible and not limited to biomedical or life sciences.
- Prior relevant working experience in visual design, graphical illustration, scientific communications, or related fields will be an added advantage.
- Proficient in developing publication-quality visual materials, with familiarity in relevant design or illustration tools and strong problem-solving skills.
- Meticulous, organised, analytical, and committed to high quality standards.
- Positive attitude with a keenness to learn.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to exercise ethical judgement and discretion.
- Keen interest in supporting scientific innovation and healthcare advancement through effective visual communication.
