Research Officer (Ref:BDMED1)
SingHealth Duke-NUS Institute of Biodiversity Medicine (BD-MED) is a newly established Joint Research Institute under the SingHealth and Duke-NUS Academic Medicine partnership. BD-MED will focus on the science of plant genomics and biology in regional herbs and food plants with the mission of “translating biodiversity studies to impact medicine and health”. We are seeking a highly motivated Bioinformatics Research Officer to join our research team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing studies and integrating multi-omics data. This role requires expertise in bioinformatics, statistical analysis, and multi-dimensional data interpretation to empower our team towards becoming a global leader in translational biodiversity medicine.
Job Description:
- Conduct statistical analyses, including Principal Component Analysis (PCA), Orthogonal Projections to Latent Structures (OPLS), differential analysis, and biomarker identification.
- Develop and apply machine learning or computational models to extract meaningful insights from complex datasets.
- Integrate and analyze multi-omics datasets, including, gut and skin microbiome profiles, Clinical metabolomics, metagenomic, O-Link proteomics, epigenetics, and transcriptomics.
- Implement computational pipelines for multi-layered biological data integration.
- Identify potential biomarkers and pathways associated with health and disease states.
- Contribute to project management, presentations, manuscript preparation & submission for publications.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s / Master’s Degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biostatistics, or a related field.
- Proven experience in clinical sample analysis using metagenomic and metabolomics MS techniques.
- Strong expertise in statistical methods (PCA, OPLS-DA, differential analysis, etc.).
- Proficiency in R, Python, or other bioinformatics tools for multi-omics data analysis.
- Experience in microbiome analysis and systems biology approaches is highly desirable.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in interdisciplinary research teams.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to present complex data effectively.
