About the Role
To support the Head and Deputy Head of Medical Affairs in managing medicolegal disputes and complaints, facilitating family conferences, serving as the primary point-of-contact for patients and families, and organizing educational activities on medical law, ethics, and dispute resolution.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the management of complex and high-risk medico-legal disputes and complaints, ensuring timely resolution in accordance with legal, ethical and institutional standards
- Serve as primary point-of-contact for complex and sensitive cases involving external parties such as legal counsel and regulatory bodies
- Lead and facilitate family conferences and multidisciplinary discussions for high stakes disputes with the aim of de-escalating and achieving resolution
- Develop, implement and continuously improve frameworks, workflows and standard operating procedures for medicolegal case management
- Oversee accurate documentation and records of all medicolegal cases and lead internal data analysis efforts to identify trends, risks and communicate areas for systemic improvement to other departments
- Build and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to facilitate management of medicolegal complaints
- Lead the development and delivery of educational programmes on dispute management, medical law and ethics for staff training.
- Mentor and guide junior team members, supporting their professional development and building team capability
Job Requirements
- Recognised Bachelor's degree in any discipline; post-graduate qualification(s) in healthcare ethics, law and/or mediation would be advantageous
- Min. 8-10 years of working experience, preferably in healthcare, legal or social service-related industry
- Strong communication skills in both spoken and written English
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse stakeholders
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience supervising or mentoring a team
- Emotionally resilient and empathetic with ability to handle high-stress interactions
- Independent worker with initiative to complete assigned tasks and projects
- Team player, self-driven with passion for learning and receptive to feedback
