Senior Research Coordinator / Research Fellow (SPRinT)
The Laboratory of Surgical System & Service Innovation (3SI) is a multi-disciplinary laboratory that provides a platform for cutting-edge surgical health services research that informs healthcare systems, policies, and programs to provide high-value, patient centered care for patients and their families undergoing surgery.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic, meticulous, and responsible research fellow or senior research coordinator with expertise and experience in qualitative research methods to complement the team. You will be part of a holistic clinical and health services research team whose mission is to improve clinical outcomes for seriously ill patients in surgery.
Among others, your role will focus on qualitative and ethnographic research, and this may include assisting with study design, implementation, in-depth qualitative interview, coding, and qualitative analysis.
*Successful Applicant with Degree or Master's Degree as highest academic qualification will be offered Senior Research Coordinator position, while PhD holders will be offered Research Fellow position.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Qualitative research
- Design and implement new studies/ programmes
- Create interview guides and focus group discussion frameworks
- Conduct in-depth interviews
- Manage and organise field notes and recordings
- Transcribe audio recordings accurately
- Conduct analysis of qualitative data
2. Data Collection, Management, Analysis
- Gathering data from various sources and organizing it for analysis
- Performing statistical and data analysis techniques to generate insights from the data
- Data quality control – Ensuring accuracy and completeness of data through data validation and cleaning
3. Presentations & Data Visualization
- Analysis Report Generation: Producing reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations
- Data Visualization: Creating visual representations of data to effectively communicate insights
- Preparation of presentation slides and posters for submission to local and international conferences
- Preparing manuscript suitable for publication
Main Requirements
- Bachelor’s / Master’s degree or PhD in the healthcare related fields, social sciences or psychology such as, but not restricted to: Sociology/ Anthropology, Social Work, or Public Health
- At least 5 years of work experience in non-research sector that demonstrates candidate’s ability to work independently and in a team, manage projects, analyze data, write reports and communicate effectively.
- OR At least 2-3 years of qualitative research experience (e.g., participatory action research, ethnographic research, evaluation research, culture-centered approach) which demonstrates candidate’s ability to work with qualitative research team, and conduct fieldwork in local settings with people from different walks of life.
- Demonstrate ethical considerations, sensitivities and competencies working with older adults and/or vulnerable populations.
- Interest in conducting both evaluation and exploratory research that impact policies and programmes relevant to health/serious illness/palliative care/ageing/surgery/disparities
- Experience in using NVIVO 11/12 qualitative analysis software
- Demonstrate versatility in conducting qualitative research analysis (eg. discourse analysis, grounded theory, phenomenological analysis, narrative inquiry, constructivist, thick description, reflexivity/ standpoint, political economic analysis)
- Able to work independently and interactively in a team setting, motivated, responsible and a fast learner
- Passionate about clinical and health service research to bring about positive impact to patients
