Assistant Manager, Finance

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Assistant Manager, Finance to join our Finance team. In this role, you will support the day-to-day financial operations of the organisation and work closely with internal stakeholders, Finance Shared Services, auditors, vendors, and external partners to ensure strong financial governance, compliance, and timely delivery of financial services.

This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to key initiatives, including premises relocation, asset management, grant administration, budgeting, and audit activities.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Financial Operations & Controls

  • Review procurement requisitions and payment requests to ensure proper documentation, authorisation, and accurate coding.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procurement procedures, and internal control requirements.
  • Liaise with Finance Shared Services and vendors to facilitate timely processing and payment of invoices.
  • Help with financial assessment of potential vendors

 

Building Relocation & Asset Management

  • Support the management and reimbursement of expenses.
  • Review and monitor the fixed asset register associated with the relocation exercise. Assist in conducting a comprehensive review of the fixed asset register, including physical verification of assets, reconciliation with accounting records, resolution of variances, and verification that all relevant asset procurement and acquisitions have been properly recorded and capitalised.
  • Coordinate the transfer of assets to appropriate locations and cost centres.
  • Ensure asset disposals are accurately recorded and properly accounted for.

 

Grants, Audit & Budgeting

  • Assist with grant submissions, claims, and verification processes.
  • Support internal and external audit exercises by preparing required documentation and schedules.
  • Assist in the organisation-wide budgeting and financial planning process.

 

Financial Closing & Reporting

  • Support monthly and year-end financial closing activities.
  • Ensure expenses are appropriately accrued and recorded.

 

Other Duties

  • Help to automate process whenever possible.
  • Undertake additional finance-related responsibilities and projects as assigned.

 

 

Requirements

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy, Finance, or equivalent professional qualification (e.g. ACCA).
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant finance and accounting experience.

 

Skills & Competencies

  • Good knowledge of Financial Reporting Standards (FRS), accounting principles, and relevant statutory regulations.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Meticulous, hands-on, and resourceful with strong attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.

 

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in the healthcare industry.
  • Working knowledge of SAP or other ERP systems.
  • Experience in grant administration and financial reporting would be advantageous.
