Research Fellow/Associate (Ref:NHCS/RA/YKK)
You will be part of the data science research team within the institute. You are expected to provide technical expertise in data mining and processing of big data including, but not limited to, constructing large structured and unstructured data from disparate sources/files, data profiling, quality assurance, archiving data workflow and codebook, developing/implementing data science [machine learning/deep learning/natural language processing (NLP)] concepts/algorithms. You will also support initiatives for data integrity and harmonisation. In addition, you will help with state-of-art data science research projects, including, but not limited to, machine learning/deep learning/NLP. You are expected to work with IT administrators to optimise the data transfer and bring the system up to near real-time data transfer. You will work closely with research collaborators to develop problem statements and identify possible data science opportunities/solutions as well as write/contribute to publications for disseminating research findings. The selected candidate will be offered employment on 2-years renewable contractual terms.
Requirements:
- PhD or Masters in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Mathematics, Statistics or other relevant quantitative discipline
- Experienced in experimental procedure within field of expertise especially in the area of data science (Machine Learning/Deep Learning/NLP) concepts/algorithms
- Ability to translate business requirements into non-technical layman terms.
- Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and programming languages like SQL, Oracle, R, Matlab and Python is preferred
- Proficiency with Hadoop, Spark, MapReduce, HDFS, Pig, Hive or Impala is preferred
- Excellent Interpersonal, written and oral communications skills
