Research Officer (Ref: NHCS/RO/JY)

You will be part of the data science research team within the institute. You are responsible for managing data transfers between the main platform and the other data sources/repositories, ensuring the quality of imported data through meticulous data cleaning processes. You will conduct literature reviews and design research studies, and perform data verification and analysis using various methodologies. You will be involved in commissioning and decommissioning of data sets and support initiatives for data integrity, normalisation and standardisation. You are expected to provide training and technical support to the platform users. You will also provide technical expertise in data storage structures, data mining, data cleansing, data profiling, quality assurance, archiving data workflow and codebook. You will need to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, and ensure timely completion of project milestones and deliverables.

Job Requirements:

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Science, Mathematics or Bioinformatics, preferably with more than 3 years’ relevant experience
• Knowledge of programming languages like SQL, Oracle, R, Matlab and Python and proficiency with Hadoop, Spark, MapReduce, HDFS, Pig, Hive or Impala is preferred
• Domain knowledge in healthcare data and experience with relational database, coding and web development is preferred
• Meticulous with demonstrated organisational skill, and able to multi-task
• Highly motivated self-starter with strong analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills, and ability to translate business requirements into non-technical layman terms
• A team player and also able to work independently
