Senior Accountant

We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join our team. The staff is responsible for providing financial and administrative support for its philanthropic fund, SHF -NNI. This role ensures compliance with donor regulations, maintains accurate financial records and assists in the preparation of financial reports. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of financial principles, excellent organisational skills and the ability to work independently and as part of our team.

Financial Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records including receipts, disbursements and reconciliations.
  • Work closely with SingHealth Fund HQ on the timely submission of management reports and ad hoc requests
  • Review the journals prepared by junior staff and ensuring accurate data before posting.
  • Assist in the treasury function by working closing with the grantor and grantees on the cash forecasts and maximise return through placement of fixed deposit or investments with the approved banks.
  • Work closely with NNI Development team on fund raising events and ensuring compliance with the relevant authorities and also accurate and timely accounting for the donation income receipts
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports for the SHF -NNI IFC meetings.
  • Assist with the external and internal audits.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures for grant management and ensure compliance with SHF.
  • Maintain proper filing systems for all financial documentation.

Grant Administration

  • Support the grant application and reporting processes.
  • Track grant deadlines and ensure timely submission of financial reports
  • Monitor grant expenditures against budgets and identify potential variances and follow up with grantees on the necessary.
  • Assist to prepare the Statements of Account for the grants and working closely with the Grantees to ensure maximise utilisation and compliance with the relevant authorities.
  • Communicate with grantors and project staff regarding financial matters.
  • Assist in the preparation of grant budgets and budgets revisions.
  • Participate in grant opening and closing meetings. Ensure all grant related procurement is completed with grant guidelines and comply with SHS/ NNI procurement policy.

Other Duties

  • Provide administrative support to the finance and grants management team
  • Assists with other tasks as assigned.

Job requirements:

  • Bachelor of Accountancy or other professional accounting qualifications from reputable Universities, recognised by ISCA
  • 2 years of experience in grant administration, fund management, preferably in grant -funded environment and charities governance would be added advantage
  • Fresh graduates can be considered
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications (e.g. SAP , Excel , Word , Powerpoint)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and quality
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of donor regulations and compliance requirements (e.g. Charities Act & Regulations and FRS)
