Medical Laboratory Scientist (Central TB Laboratory)
Job Description
This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic clinical laboratory in providing cutting-edge laboratory diagnosis of tuberculosis (TB) and other mycobacterial diseases for hospitals, clinics, laboratories and other healthcare facilities in Singapore. The Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) will be involved in Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) DNA extraction, library preparation, and sequence analysis, providing the scientific and technical expertise necessary to cater to high quality laboratory services. Prior experience in molecular work, preferably in WGS DNA extraction, library preparation, and sequence analysis is required. The MLS will also be involved in laboratory management roles in supplies tracking, implementation of work process improvements and projects, and carrying out other diagnostic tests depending on the laboratory’s needs. There will also be opportunities for the MLS to be involved in education, training and development of junior laboratory staff and undergraduate students.
Requirements:
- PhD in relevant discipline; or
- Master of Science in relevant discipline with at least 1 year of relevant work experience; or
- Degree or Diploma in Biomedical Science, Life Sciences or its equivalent with at least 3 years of relevant work experience
- Able to work independently and in a team
- Possess good interpersonal skills and preferably with prior experience in laboratory management
- Possess prior experience in molecular work, preferably in WGS DNA extraction, library preparation, and sequence analysis.
