Pharmacist (Infectious Disease)
Job Description
The Infectious Disease (ID) Pharmacists provide pharmaceutical care as a crucial member of a multidisciplinary health care team that includes ID physicians, microbiologists, epidemiologists and nurses. The key aims of our ID Pharmacists are to optimise antibiotic use, maximise cost-effectiveness, reduce antibiotic resistance, and promote good infection control within the institution, health cluster and at a national level.
You will perform the role of an antimicrobial stewardship program pharmacist, where we monitor the prescription of antibiotics and hence identify, resolve, and/or prevent drug-related problems in patients receiving these antibiotics. Active participation in regular ID clinical rounds and provision of timely and accurate drug information is required. Similarly, an ID pharmacist must be able to educate the general public, patients, students and fellow healthcare workers on safe and effective anti-infective medication use via various communication channels. Documenting the outcomes of patient care, and overseeing drug distribution activities are also part of the job. In addition, ID Pharmacists will advance the knowledge-base in ID by performing relevant clinical and/or translational research. We are expected to support and participate in the SGH mission of providing quality patient care, education, and research.
At SGH, we have a vibrant team of ID Pharmacists that perform the above mentioned activities in both inpatient and outpatient settings. As we expand the current scope of services provided and improve our research capabilities, we are looking for motivated and dynamic ID Pharmacists to join our team.
