Assistant/Deputy/ Director, Singapore Cord Blood Bank

 

Join Singapore Cord Blood Bank (SCBB) and play a pivotal role in advancing life-saving cord blood transplantation across Singapore and globally.

We are seeking a highly motivated and qualified candidate to lead and oversee all technical aspects of cord blood procurement, processing, testing, cryopreservation, distribution and daily laboratory operations.

 

Key Responsibilities:

You will ensure compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards including Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT), Association for the Advancement of Blood and Biotherapies  (AABB) and College of American Pathologists (CAP), whilst overseeing laboratory validation, annual stability programmes and the management of cord blood unit search, release and documentation. You will lead Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and quality system development, conduct annual staff competency assessments and support ongoing training. The role includes participating in accreditation assessments, maintaining audit readiness and contributing to hiring, performance reviews and disciplinary actions. You will also manage incident reporting, corrective actions, risk mitigation and support Business Continuity Planning and emergency preparedness.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Doctoral Degree in Bioscience or related field, with at least 10 years of relevant experience
  • Qualified through relevant training or experience to perform the activities carried out in the cell or tissue banking facility
  • Certification or licensure in cellular therapy, blood banking or laboratory medicine preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)-compliant laboratory operations and Quality Management System (QMS) implementation
  • Proficiency in basic statistical analysis for laboratory data review, trend analysis and performance monitoring
  • Excellent written communication skills for SOPs, reports and presentations
  • Strong interpersonal, organisational and leadership capabilities
  • Commitment to continuing education and professional development
