Senior Legal Counsel, Legal (Contract)

As part of Singapore's largest public healthcare cluster, you'll work at the intersection of law, technology, and healthcare to help bring groundbreaking medical discoveries from our research labs to patients who need them most.
We are seeking a dynamic and commercially-minded lawyer to support our intellectual property commercialisation efforts across the SingHealth cluster. You'll work closely with the SingHealth Intellectual Property team and the Office of Research to guide the legal review of licences, grants, and agreements that enable the protection and commercialisation of our intellectual property assets, whilst supporting strategic investments in technology spin-offs.
What You'll Do:
You will guide negotiations and draft licensing and commercialisation agreements, working with the SHIP team to develop consistent, appropriate terms whilst advising on legal risks and commercial strategy. Your role involves reviewing and drafting intellectual property agreements including collaboration agreements, material transfer agreements, and non-disclosure agreements. You'll manage the end-to-end legal process for strategic investments into technology spin-offs, conducting due diligence, structuring deals, and executing transaction documents such as shareholder agreements and other corporate documents. Additionally, you'll provide strategic legal advice and execution support for our portfolio of spin-off companies, handling divestments, acquisitions, and other exit events. A key aspect of your role involves promoting awareness of intellectual property commercialisation benefits across the SingHealth cluster through outreach and engagement with clinicians and researchers, including speaking at internal workshops. You'll also review, develop, and advise all SingHealth institutions on compliance measures for applicable intellectual property legislation, policies, and directives through internal policy development, harmonisation, and regulatory liaison.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor of Laws degree
- At least 8 years of relevant experience in corporate, commercial, or intellectual property law
- Strong commercial acumen with ability to provide pragmatic, business-oriented legal advice
- Excellent negotiation, organisational, and administrative skills
- Confident self-starter who can handle multiple projects autonomously whilst working successfully within teams
- Active networking abilities with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
- Adaptable approach with interest in working across various business units and departments
- Interest in public healthcare would be advantageous
