What You Will Do:

You will evaluate invention disclosures for patentability and commercial potential, working directly with inventors and patent agents to draft and file patent applications that protect our healthcare innovations. Your role involves prosecuting and maintaining an active patent portfolio by responding to Patent Office actions through appropriate agents whilst ensuring our intellectual property remains commercially viable. You will support translational funding applications by advising research teams on intellectual property sections and reviewing commercialisation strategies to strengthen their proposals. Additionally, you will negotiate and manage various intellectual property agreements including collaboration agreements, material transfer agreements, and non-disclosure agreements under senior oversight. A key aspect of your role involves identifying potential licensees, conducting due diligence, benchmarking technology value, and structuring licence deals to bring our innovations to market. You will also promote awareness of intellectual property commercialisation benefits across SingHealth by engaging with clinicians and researchers, attending internal workshops, and speaking at events related to innovation development and commercialisation.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in biotechnology, biomedical engineering, or relevant scientific/engineering field (postgraduate qualification preferred). Candidates with a Law degree and has relevant experience will also be considered
  • At least 8 years of relevant experience in academic and/or industrial environments involving intellectual property identification, protection, or commercialisation
  • Working knowledge of intellectual property protection and rights law. Familiarity with contract and corporate law will be preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively and assertively influence key stakeholders, and build and support business relationships and partnerships.
  • Track record of successfully negotiating commercial contracts with industry partners preferred
