About the Role
Reporting to the Senior Assistant Director, you will be a key technical authority within SIPS, driving the harmonisation of laboratory practices, supporting health screening programmes, and advancing digital pathology adoption. Working closely with the Academic Chair, laboratory heads, and cross-institutional stakeholders, you will help shape a consistent, high-quality, and future-ready pathology service for Singapore.
What You'll Do
- Provide expert leadership in laboratory scientific standards, technical governance, and operational practices across SingHealth institutions
- Lead the cluster-wide integration of blood bank laboratory services, including alignment of testing platforms, workflows, and quality systems built on WellSky LIS and EPIC NGEMR platforms
- Provide scientific and operational leadership for laboratory services supporting population health and health screening programmes, including assay validation, workflow optimisation, and performance monitoring
- Contribute scientific and operational input to new and expanded pathology service development, including demand-capacity analysis and workload studies
- Support the digital pathology roadmap, facilitating workflow redesign, data integration, and capability development for clinical and operational teams
- Develop competency frameworks, training roadmaps, and succession plans for specialist technical tracks
- Provide input for capital equipment planning, platform evaluation, and resource optimisation
Job Requirements:
- A PhD, MSc or Degree in Biomedical Science, Biological Science, Medical Technology or related disciplines, with at least 12 years of relevant experience
- Strong technical expertise in a pathology discipline such as haematology, transfusion medicine, histopathology, clinical chemistry, molecular pathology, or microbiology
- Experience in laboratory quality management and accreditation frameworks such as CAP or ISO 15189/SAC-SINGLAS
- Strong analytical, communication, and project management skills, with familiarity with LIS/EMR systems
- Proactive individual with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively across diverse teams and institutions
