Key Responsibilities:

Manage donation process:

  • Identify suitability of donors for cornea donation upon death notification including conducting medico-legal checks and reviewing medical histories

  • Apply clinical analytical skills and judgement in routine scenarios independently , and in complex scenarios with guidance

  • Guide and counsel potential donors and families throughout the donation process

  • Liaise with NOTU (MOH) and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with organ/tissue donation policies

 

Recovery and Coordination:

  • Coordinate the recovery process by working with recovery teams and assisting in post-recovery donor family support

  • Consider medical and biosocial factors when evaluating cases to ensure optimal outcomes

 

Education and awareness:

  • Educate healthcare staff, the public and family members on the significance of eye donation, and coordinate awareness activities to promote organ/tissue donation

  • Address misconceptions that may prevent families from consenting to donation

 

Coordination with Stakeholders

  • Facilitate the logistical process of corneal procurement with the medical team, eye bank staff and other stakeholders

  • Work across transplant programmes to build relationships, share information, and plan resources

  • Administrative Duties:

  • Monitor, collect, and input data for clinical audits and service evaluations to support evidence-based programme development and outcome monitoring.

  • To perform any other duties assigned to support the programme’s clinical, research, operational, and developmental needs.

 

Working Arrangements:

The position requires on-call for donor screening coverage.

 

Essential Requirements:

  • Degree in Psychology / Health Sciences / Biomedical Sciences OR Diploma in Psychology / Health Sciences / Biomedical Sciences or equivalent

  • Candidate with counselling experience is preferred

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work in emotionally challenging situations

  • Willingness to travel between hospitals

  • Flexibility to work on-call hours as specified
